Over a cup of tea…
September 18, 2013
If we were chatting over a cup of tea, I’d say thank you. Thank you for supporting me as I traveled to Toronto to be on CTV’s new talk show, The Social, as their book club expert.
The response I received since announcing my TV appearance has been overwhelming. Friends I haven’t seen or spoken to in years – old teachers, acquaintances from university classes, my parents’ friends – took the time to write me, wishing me luck. And after the segment aired, even more people told me they’d tuned in and congratulated me. The girls from the “Unputdownable” Book Club texted me all day, pumping me up and reassuring me.
Most of the time, I loath social media – it’s a love/hate relationship, since I need it for my job and my hobbies. But in times like this, I love it. The Facebook, Twitter and Instagram love I received before and after the show was so touching. It helped get me through a really stressful, complicated day… and now I am so happy with how well everything turned out.
I have to take this time to thank My Other Half, who pushes me and supports me in everything I try to do. You are irreplaceable. And my parents, who are my very best friends and I cannot imagine life without them.
So, if we were chatting over a cup of tea, I’d say thank you – from the bottom of my very humble heart. You guys are the best, and I am so lucky to have you.
