Confession: I absolutely love Starbucks’ Tazo Chai Lattes.
I’m assuming I’m not the only one. Which is why, for my Stella & Dot party, I set out to make my own.
With the chilly weather rolling in (it’s under 10 degrees when I wake up in the mornings), I thought it would be nice to welcome my mid-afternoon guests with something hot, comforting and delicious… instead of the usual wine. But don’t get me wrong – there was definitely wine. There is always wine at my house. You can hold me to that.
Thankfully it turned out amazing – sweet, with a hint of chai and steamin’ hot. I made it using my slow cooker, of all things, which made it easy for the girls to help themselves. And it only took a few hours.
You’ll notice I sweetened my chai tea, but you don’t have to. You could also make this a latte by using more milk instead of water.
The only thing missing? Maybe some Baileys. I’m making a mental note to try that next time…
Ingredients
- 8 cups water
- 8 bags black tea
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 16 whole cloves
- 5 cinnamon sticks
- 1/4 cup fresh minced ginger
- 1 cup of milk
Instructions
- Combine everything except the milk in a slow cooker. Cook on high for at least 2 hours. When ready to serve, strain the mixture and return tea to slow cooker. Add milk. For a creamier or sweeter tea, add more milk or sugar. Serve warm or chilled, on ice.
