So last week, I shared the 10 most popular recipes on The Domestic Blonde in 2014.
Today, I am sharing MY favourite 10 recipes. Because, you know, what I crave, salivate over and subsequently devour is completely different than what you people are interested in. Apparently.
BUT I would not write this little blog if it wasn’t for all of you. So thanks for keeping me going… and thanks for making 2014 my best blogging year yet… by FAR!
Fun fact – The Domestic Blonde, for every year it’s been around (since 2010), has more than doubled the number of annual and monthly traffic, without fail. Crazy, right? That means the number of visitors grows by 100% every single year. I love it!
If you are interested in my favourite recipes from past years, here ya go:
Right, so back to this year’s recipes. My FAVOURITE, cannot-get-enough, want-to-make-every-day recipes. You should know it was soooo hard to decide between #1 and #2 this year… so maybe call it a tie?
Also, do not be surprised that the top 3 are forms of pasta. I am so predictable.
If you haven’t tried these… DO! Do now. They are the best of the best.
Okay, so this was popular with y’all too. I had multiple people tell me they’ve made it and LOVED it. It probably our favourite risotto we’ve ever had – even from a restaurant. Grab someone to help you stir though… it’s A LOT of stirring and my arms get tired 🙂
I almost declared this my favourite recipe from 2015… almost. Gosh darn I love fiddleheads. And mushrooms. and Gnoochi. And OMG brown butter!!! This is the freakin’ best dish. I just need to make homemade gnocchi… THAT would hit it out of the park.
I’m actually planning on making this again this week! I think it’s the best casserole I’ve ever had. You know that huge jar of banana peppers you bought at Costco and has been sitting in your fridge for eons? This is how you use those bad boys up. And this is EXACTLY what you make when you have no groceries. Throw whatever veggies you want in there… I promise it will be the bomb.
I know all you mushroom haters are like… HOW are there two mushroom recipes in the top 4?! But loooove me some mushrooms. If they’re cooked. Otherwise… I avoid them. But these are most certainly cooked. And probably one of my very favourite apps of ALL TIME. That says a lot.
I think I ranted to anyone and everyone who would listen about this recipe for, like, a week. You see, it’s the easiest thing I’ve EVER made. You think I’m exaggerating (again), but ohhhh no. I am not. It’s unreal. Do you want supper than takes five minutes to prepare but tastes like it took 2 hours? Yes you do. You really do. Oh, and it’s healthy. Which is great since it’s January and we’re all pretending like we’re going to be healthy from here on out. (Just kidding! I know you totally will be.)
This one probably surprises you! Because of the bajillion spaghetti squash recipes I made in 2014, this is the only one to make my 10 favourite recipes. Don’t get me wrong – I am completely and utterly infatuated with spaghetti squash. But this recipe really stood out in my mind because it was so light and satisfying… and I felt like I could eat it forever. Seems simple, but it tastes out of this world.
Again, so easy! And you can use whatever veggies you have on hand. I would totally make these with other meats too – not just chicken. Or no meat! You know I love a good meatless meal. Better yet, put some avocado INSIDE the taquitos. That would really rock my world.
So freakin’ simple, but sooooo tasty. This is like eating a bowl of green goodness. And what, like five ingredients? It had me at hello. Just give me a mixing bowl full of this salad and a large spoon and I’m set.
Do you have any idea how many different chocolate chip cookie recipes I’ve made in my 27-year lifetime? Probably 20. At least. And while I could never ever choose an absolute favourite, these are definitely way at the top. Forget butter, forget shortening… coconut oil is where it’s at.
This is undoubtedly the biggest breakthrough I had in 2014 – learning how to use yeast!!! I was so scared of it before and now, I have no idea why. I first tried to use it when developing this amazing pizza dough recipe and haven’t looked back. Seriously, this dough is the best I’ve ever made, and it’s flawless every single time! You must try it.
And that, my friends, is a wrap for 2014!!!
