Non-alcoholic beverages for the win!
I’ve had to get creative with this whole pregnancy thing. I’ve mentioned my obsession with SanPellegrino, but a few weekends ago I was craving something a little more… complex.
I love making cocktails at home with My Other Half, and I’ve been missing that aspect of my kitchen game recently. As we sat down to an intense game of cards, I thought I’d try my hand at some Dark Cherry Italian Sodas.
These kind of reminded me of Thai Iced Tea, which is one of my favourite drinks ever at lunchtime. The creamy part might sound weird at first, but it makes for a milky, smooth drink. I love it!
This is definitely a more summery beverages, but I’m all for breaking the rules.
- Cherry Syrup:
- 1 cup pitted dark cherries (I used frozen)
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 tbsps lime juice
- ½ cup dark cherry syrup
- 1 cup sparkling water
- 3 tbsps cream
- In a little pot over the stove, combine the cherries and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar. When thickened, turn off heat and stir in the lime juice. Let cool. When you're ready to make the sodas, fill a couple glasses with ice and pour in ¼ cup of the cherry syrup (be sure to include a few whole cherries too). Fill each glass with sparkling water and top with cream. Serve with a straw, for stirring, if desired.
